Joanna Wason: Shop

Joanna came to the Leach Pottery to work for Janet Leach in 1988, acting as her general workshop assistant. After Janet died in 1997, Joanna continued making pots on her wheel in the old Leach workshop, until late 2005 when it was closed for renovation to become the Leach Pottery Museum. She nows works from her workshop in West Penwith, and part time here in our St Ives shop.

Most often Joanna’s pots are thrown. The porcelain pieces are then glazed with tenmoku, iron, white or ash glazes, and stoneware pots with iron or ash. New work includes bowls, teabowls and sumptuous round vases in a selection of porcelain, red earthenware and stoneware. Joanna uses colour, glaze and decoration to beautiful effect: splashes of vibrant slipware and exquisite pour decoration contrast with her elegant and minimal white pieces. Stunning work from a treasured, respected potter and long-standing member of the Leach Pottery.
