“The oil can stood out immediately as an object of interest. I was drawn to its industrial nature, colour and quirky spout.  It seemed to be bursting with opportunity and personality.

 I have only managed to scratch the surface of possible interpretations with this object. I began by making a playful take on the original and then working on a variation of the body’s form. I started to play with the handle and the way these coexist as individual parts that blend together as a whole, whilst maintaining their individual character.

 I would like to explore the spout more alongside porcelain, which showed promise in capturing the bashed and squeezed shape that gives the original object so much of its character.”
