Preview (all welcome): Friday 12 October 2018, 6-8pm
Exhibition: 13 October - 2 December 2018.

The Leach Pottery proudly presents ‘Matthew Foster: An Apprenticeship’. The first solo show of Matthew’s career, it marks the completion of his three-year Leach Apprenticeship which began in 2015.

The exhibition showcases what Matthew has learnt, presenting a range of tableware like pourers, jugs, bowls, plates, jars, teapots, and tiles, as well as larger pieces demonstrating his interest in and interpretation of forms with an East-West pottery influence. Expect tantalising tenmoku, shino, and ash, glazes alongside brush-decorated pots.

Matthew’s three-year Leach Apprenticeship began in October 2015 with the generous support of Seasalt who part-funded the first two years. Funding for the third year was kindly provided by the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) through a QEST Apprenticeship. Matthew is the second potter to complete the Leach Apprenticeship programme.

A St Ives local, Matthew Foster started his career as a chef, spanning 12 years, studied Fine Art at Kent University, 2004-2006, before working for Joseph Clarke at the Millennium Gallery (now Anima-Mundi) in St Ives.

The exhibition runs in the Leach Pottery Shop Gallery.
All works for sale. Prices from £20 to £300.
