Muchelney Pottery: Shop
The pottery was set up in 1965 by John Leach, eldest grandson of Bernard Leach, with whom he did part of his apprenticeship. He designed what has become an iconic range of woodfired stoneware pots based on the simple strength of English country pottery. It has been produced and sold for nearly 60 years.
These timeless stoneware kitchen pots are hand-thrown using local clays and wood-fired in a traditional Japanese climbing kiln to the high stoneware temperature of 1320⁰C, which creates their distinctive ‘toasted’ finish.
We present a small collection of the beautiful ware, which includes casserole dishes, a salt pig, pestle & mortar, jugs a butter dish and pouring bowl.
