Potter at work, Muchelney Pottery’s Lead Potter, Mark Melbourne

Join lead Potter at Muchelney Pottery, Mark Melbourne, as he demonstrates his approach to throwing on a kick wheel in the Leach Pottery museum.

Mark will be working in the kick wheel room from 4pm to 6pm. All are welcome to come and visit during this free demonstration and enjoy free admission the museum. At 5pm an exhibition of Muchelney’s Pottery, Muchelney Pottery: 60 Years Strong, will open in the Leach Pottery shop.

Muchelney Pottery was established in 1965 by John and Lizzie Leach in Muchelney, Somerset. John set up the Pottery having trained with his grandfather Bernard Leach, and his father David to continue the tradition of handmade ceramics. Muchelney Pottery shares many similarities in ethos to the Leach Pottery, both creating objects of beauty and functionality.
