Tinni Arora
Tinni hails from Noida, a town adjacent to New Delhi, India. After gaining a degree in Fashion and Textiles, she went on to learn pottery from Delhi Blue Pottery Trust and under master potter – Rachna Parasher. In 2013, she became a part of the Leach Pottery team as their annual volunteer apprentice. Her extensive training includes an internship with Mike Dodd and apprenticeships at various Potteries like Tyrii, Winchcome, to name a few.
At her studio in Noida, she works exclusively with gas fired functional ware and miniature pottery. The process of making the miniatures imitates the process and proportions of a full-scale pot. To achieve this, each piece is thrown on a regular size wheel, along with most of its attachments like lids and spout. The handles are pulled and all the decorations are done by hand using tiny tools. Her love for small things always informs Tina’s work, and the Leach Pottery has given it a new platform.
Presently, she divides her time between running her own studio and teaching ceramics to students at an International Baccalaureate school. While she is primarily a practitioner, she enjoys imparting in learners the same love of ceramics that informs her practice. She goes by Amorphous_Studios_India on Instagram.
